Outi Meaney (b. 1989) is a Helsinki-based visual artist and art educator (Master of Arts, Aalto University, 2018).

In her paintings, Meaney explores light and surfaces through the means of both traditional painting and sculpting. Stylistic variations and relief-like surfaces evoke a desire to examine and touch. The themes of her works often deal with the beauty of nature, animals, and fairytale-like moments.

Exchange studies in Japan are stylistically visible in her illustrations and comic storytelling. The ink drawing line is delicate and detailed. In comics, her emphasis is on visual storytelling, and the narrative aims to sustain itself without text.

Meaney’s sewing hobby also sparked a passion for designing fabric patterns. Painted and drawn by hand, they are often inspired by nature and stories, and appeal to adults and children alike.
